The Use Case 2 is a MSFD and CFP coastal demonstration) aims to expand knowledge of past ocean environmental conditions to explore their impact on the abundance and distribution of small pelagic fish species, emphasising the need of multi-year high-resolution simulations to study the relations between oceanic conditions and fish recruitment, and the inclusion of environmental indicators in fish stock assessment to improve short-term variability prediction of population dynamics, species assessment, and management.

The Use Case 3 deals with the MSP and the Green Deal and aims to support the implementation of the Maritime Portuguese Spatial Plan (PSOEM) by producing operational results in three areas, including a marine renewable energy site in Viana do Castelo, North Portugal, an estuarine system with competing uses such as big ports and marine protected areas in the Tagus and Sado estuaries, and an aquaculture production area in Armona, Algarve, southern Portugal.
